This page describes defects in homebrew games. For defects in commercial games, see Game Bugs.

Many older programs that are passed off as NES programs were tested exclusively with older, less accurate emulators, and do not work on a Nintendo Entertainment System.

Title Problem Description Screenshots
Years Behind Scrolltext glitches, caused by slight inaccuracies in compensation for APU DMC DMA cycle stealing. Color glitches caused by mid-frame palette rewriting. [1]
Final Fantasy II (English translation, Neo Demiforce) Version 1.02 and 1.03 — graphic glitches during intro, no text during prologue (blue screen without text). Caused by incorrect setting of nametables in PPUCTRL, misuse of PPUSCROLL, and reading of PPUSTATUS to detect VBLANK. [2]
